Questions people ask

How do you find opposite faces on a cube net?

In a straight line of squares, faces with one square between them are opposite. Opposite faces can never be seen together on a cube.

What if all three faces could be next to each other?

Check the order round the corner. Picture the shared corner: the faces must go round it in the same direction as in the net, or it is a mirror image.

Which 11+ tests have cube nets?

Non-verbal and spatial reasoning papers, such as GL Assessment's, often include them.

How we work this out

What it does

Look at the net, pick the cube it folds into, and see why the others are impossible.

Cube net questions from 11+ non-verbal and spatial reasoning papers.

Method

  1. Each net is folded in code to find the one cube it can make; the other three cannot be made.
  2. Two checks rule out wrong cubes: faces that are opposite in the net can never be seen together, and three faces that meet at a corner must go round it in the right order.
