Do Reading School and Kendrick use the same test?
No. Kendrick uses GL Assessment: two papers of about an hour with English, maths, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, all multiple choice. Reading School sets its own FSCE test: four papers that apply Year 5 knowledge across subjects, with multiple-choice, short and written answers and a creativity task.
Are these the real papers?
No. Neither school publishes past papers. Every question here is our own, written in each test's formats.
When are the tests?
For September 2027 entry, Reading School's main test was on 16 July 2026, at the end of Year 5, and Kendrick's was on 18 September 2026, in Year 6. Dates for September 2028 entry are not published yet.
How much time does it take?
About ten minutes a lesson. Three lessons a week covers the course in a month, then practice sets and a mock fill the time before the test.
Does where we live matter?
Yes, for both schools. Kendrick gives places by Priority Area 1, then Priority Area 2. Reading School uses priority postcodes and a wider catchment. The route checker shows where you sit.
