Trafford 11+ results: what they mean and what to do next

Qualifying is not a place. A qualifying score means a school can consider your child; each school then ranks its own applicants by its own rules, and offers come on 1 March 2027. Whatever the result, apply to the council by 31 October 2026, listing schools in your real order of preference.

What to do now

  1. Read the letter carefully

Check which school or test it is from and the exact score. Compare it with the qualifying line above for each school you are considering.

  2. Check how places are given

A school that ranks by distance or catchment may not reach you even with a high score. The school explorer shows each school's order and past demand.

  3. Apply by 31 October

List schools in your true order of preference, including at least one school your child is likely to get into. Ranking a school first does not lower your chances at the others.

  4. Wait for 1 March

Offers come on 1 March 2027. If you are refused a place, the letter explains how to appeal and how waiting lists work.

If the score is just below the line

  • Stretford and Urmston

Both describe a local review for some children scoring below 334. Read the school's policy and ask the school how to request one.

  • Pupil Premium and looked-after children

Several schools qualify these children at a lower score, often 324. Check the school's line above.

  • Appeals

An appeal is against a refused place, after offers on 1 March 2027. It is not a re-mark of the test.
