When are the Bexley Selection Test results out?
Results for the September 2026 test were emailed from 4pm on Friday 2 October 2026. Email the council's School Admissions Team if yours has not arrived.
Does selective mean my child has a place?
No. 2,070 children were selective last year for 800 places. Only the top 180 scorers are sure of a place; the rest are offered by each school's rules, mostly distance.
What is a good Bexley Selection Test score?
The average is 200 and about two-thirds of children score between 170 and 230. Last year about 35% of children were selective.
My child is not selective. Is there anything we can do?
Still name a grammar school on your form. If places are left, children 1 or 2 marks below the selective score are offered next, and your headteacher can ask for a review after the deadline.
When do we apply?
Name your schools on your home council's secondary application by 31 October 2026. Offers come on 1 March 2027.

Method
- Most places go to selective children by distance from home. We measure a straight line from the centre of your postcode to each school and compare it with the furthest place the school offered on National Offer Day in each of the last three years.
- Within 0.3 miles of last year's furthest offer counts as too close to call, because Bexley measures from your exact home to the school's entrance.
- Only the top 180 scorers are sure of a place. Bexley publishes the scale (an average of 200, about two-thirds of children between 170 and 230) and last year's counts (2,070 of 5,866 selective), so we read the scale as a bell curve with that average and spread. That puts the top 180 at about 256 and the selective score at about 211.
