11+ SEND access arrangements: a parent’s first checklist
Read the arrangements for your chosen test and speak to your child’s primary-school SENCO early. Rules, evidence and deadlines are local. For the 2026 Kent Test, the primary school had to request arrangements and KCC did not accept requests after 1 July 2026. Do not carry that deadline into a later cycle.

Questions to take to the school
- Which test and Year 7 entry year are we discussing?
- Who submits the request, and what evidence is required?
- Which classroom arrangements are currently used and documented?
- What is the deadline for evidence, separately from registration?
- How will we receive confirmation of the approved test-day arrangements?
This checklist helps organise the conversation. It is not an assessment of eligibility for an adjustment.
Keep each application separate

Bexley publishes its own special-arrangements policy and application route. Its checked registration page gives a school submission deadline at the end of spring term 2026. The Kent deadline therefore cannot be used as a shared 11+ deadline.
Make practice informative
- Use a small task your child can access, and discuss where the obstacle appears.
- Record observations neutrally rather than diagnosing a condition from a practice score.
- Keep approved arrangements and ordinary practice preferences clearly labelled.
- If the deadline has passed or needs change, ask the test authority for guidance; this site cannot approve a late request.

Worked example Write a useful observation
Original teaching example. A parent notes: “After I read the instruction aloud, Sam explained the fraction method correctly.” What does this record establish?
Why this works: It records what support was given and what happened next. It can help frame a discussion with school staff.
Why the tempting route fails: It does not by itself establish a diagnosis, an entitlement to extra time or a test score adjustment.
