11+ standardised scores: why a free calculator cannot convert your marks
A raw practice percentage is not enough to calculate an official 11+ standardised score. The test’s cohort, age adjustment and scoring method matter. There is no universal GL conversion table for every school. For Kent, you can check already-issued scores against the published rule for the correct test year.

First identify the number you have

Kent’s published 2025 rule was 332 overall with each subject at least 108. Its checked page says the 2026 threshold will be available in October. The checker must use the rule for the test year, not simply the newest number that appears in a search result.

Worked example Two kinds of number
Original teaching example. A child gets 36 of 45 original practice questions right. What can you calculate?
Why this works: 36 ÷ 45 × 100 = 80% accuracy on that set. You can review the nine mistakes and choose a target skill.
Why the tempting route fails: 80% does not supply the official standardised score. Neither a different paper’s conversion table nor a guessed percentile fills the missing information.
What about an 11+ pass rate?
A useful rate needs a named test year, an official numerator and a matching denominator. Test takers, applicants and children offered places are different groups. We do not turn a forum’s reported pass rate into a forecast for an individual child.
- Save the original result and its entry year.
- Read the school’s criteria for an offer separately from the test threshold.
- Use a practice result to choose a learning task, not to label your child.
