Kent Test dates and registration for 2027 entry
September 2027 entry uses the 2026 Kent Test. Registration ran from 1 June to 1 July 2026 and is closed. The main sittings have also passed. Results are due on 15 October 2026.

KCC directs families seeking 2027 entry who did not register to email kent.admissions@kent.gov.uk with the child's name, date of birth, address and current school. KCC will explain the next steps; this is not a promise of a late test.

Testing and applying are separate jobs

List preferred schools on your home council's school application. A qualifying assessment does not guarantee an offer; each school's admissions criteria still apply.
- Suggested check: save the council's application deadline separately from the test date.
- Write down any school supplementary form and its deadline.
- For a later entry year, check a new official timetable. Do not move these dates forward by one year.
Practise reading a timetable carefully
Worked example Work backwards from arrival
Original teaching example. For a fictional activity, arrival is at 09:20. The journey takes 35 minutes and the family wants a 10-minute buffer. What is the latest departure time? A 08:25, B 08:35, C 08:45, D 08:55, E 09:05.
- Subtract the buffer: 09:20 minus 10 minutes is 09:10.
- Subtract the journey: 09:10 minus 35 minutes is 08:35.
Why this works: B, 08:35. Journey and buffer together take 45 minutes.
Why the tempting route fails: 08:45 subtracts only the journey. These fictional times are not Kent Test arrival instructions.
