Kent Test pass mark and standardised scores
The 2026 Kent Test threshold is not yet published in this September snapshot. KCC says it will be available in October 2026. The 2025 rule was a total of at least 332, with every subject at least 108. Do not reuse it as the 2026 rule.

Why a percentage is not the official score

KCC reports English, maths and reasoning scores plus their total. Standardisation compares performance with other children and adjusts for age. A practice percentage alone cannot supply that comparison.
Use practice results to choose the next skill to work on. Record whether an error came from vocabulary, a calculation, misunderstanding the question or running out of time. That is more useful for tomorrow's practice than an invented conversion.

Worked example A total is only one check
Original teaching example. Using the published 2025 numerical rule only, a fictional child has scores of 107, 119 and 121. Does this meet both numerical conditions?
- Add the scores: 107 + 119 + 121 = 347.
- 347 exceeds 332, but 107 is below 108.
Why this works: No. The historical total condition is met, but the minimum-subject condition is not. This is arithmetic practice, not an assessment decision.
Why the tempting route fails: A high aggregate does not erase a subject minimum. Do not use this historical exercise to override an issued headteacher assessment or classify a 2026 result.

Schools apply their own admissions criteria when allocating places. A grammar assessment is not a guarantee of admission to your preferred school.
- Suggested next step: read the policy for the exact school and entry year.
- Keep the official assessment outcome alongside the subject scores.
- Do not translate a practice result into admission odds.
What we cannot calculate
We do not offer a raw-mark conversion, a predicted 2026 threshold or a probability of a place. If a practice score improves, celebrate the skill your child has learned without attaching an official score to it.
