What it covers
Buckinghamshire selection reviews for children who scored under 121 in the Secondary Transfer Test: how many reviews were considered at each score and how many ended with the child qualified, for 2026 entry (938 reviews) and 2025 entry (902 reviews).

Method
- We copy the council's tables score by score. The 2025-entry table is in the council's selection review guidance (named 2026, but its table is 2025 entry, as at 31 March 2025).
- We add up the reviews and successes at your score, and at the scores either side if you choose. At 118 to 120 for 2026 entry: 180 of 329 reviews succeeded, 55%.
- The 'range from chance alone' is a 95% Wilson interval on that share: 49% to 60% at 118 to 120. It shows how much a share this size could move by chance, nothing more.
- We checked whether 2025-entry shares, smoothed over two scores either side, would have predicted 2026: they ranked scores better than one flat rate (Brier score 0.178 against 0.218) but expected 337 successes where there were 295.
Uncertainty and limits
- Only families who asked for a review are counted, and the panel also looks at school evidence and circumstances on the day, which these tables do not show.
- Some scores have very few reviews: one success at 95 out of one review says almost nothing. Include nearby scores for a steadier figure.
- One 2025-entry review had no score recorded. It is in the totals but not in any score row.
- The 2026-entry table has 295 successes; the council's spring qualifier report gives 294 after review. They count at different stages.

What the answer means
The answer says how often reviews at similar scores ended with the child qualified, in the last two years. It is not your child's chance of success, which depends on their school evidence and circumstances. A successful review qualifies a child; it is not a place at a school.

How many Bucks selection reviews are successful?
For 2026 entry, 295 of 938 reviews (31%) ended with the child qualified. It varied sharply by score: 82 of 123 at 120 (67%), 29 of 89 at 116 (33%), and 9 of 147 at 110 or below (6%).
What does a selection review look at?
A panel of headteachers looks at evidence from your child's school and anything that affected them on the test day, alongside the score.
Can we ask for a review with a score well below 121?
You can, but few succeed at lower scores: for 2026 entry no review at 106 or below succeeded apart from single cases at 95 and 101.
If the review fails, can we still appeal?
Yes. After National Offer Day you can appeal to an independent panel for a grammar school you listed. The Bucks 121 checker covers the steps and dates.
