To qualify
Be assessed suitable for grammar school in the Kent Test. For the 2025 test that meant a total of 332 or more with no score below 108. The rule for the September 2026 test is published in October 2026.

Who gets the places

  1. Children with an Education, Health and Care Plan naming the school are admitted first.
  2. Inner Area (157 places): looked-after children, then Kent Test total score order. Up to 5 of these go to boys on free school meals, then Pupil Premium, by score.
  3. Outer Area (23 places): looked-after children, then Kent Test total score order.
  4. Distance breaks equal scores, then random allocation. Spare places move to the other area.
Where you live
Inner Area: TN1 to TN4, TN8 to TN15, ME18, ME19, TN16 1, TN16 2, DA4 0 and Halstead parish. Everyone else in England is in the Outer Area, which has 23 places.
Note
March 2026 cut-offs: 389 in the Inner Area, 403 in the Outer Area. Not every boy on the cut-off was offered a place.
