Kent Test practice papers: where to start
Start with KCC's official familiarisation material. Use our free Kent sets afterwards for original practice. Our questions are independently written; they are not released Kent Test papers.

Give each resource a clear job

Before using any download, check who wrote it, which area it targets and whether it calls itself a sample, practice paper or past paper. A title containing 'Kent' does not by itself establish official status.
Review the method, not just the answer
Worked example Fractions of a collection
Original teaching example. A club has 84 badges. Three sevenths are blue. Half of the remaining badges are green. How many are neither blue nor green? A 18, B 24, C 36, D 42, E 48.
- One seventh of 84 is 12, so 36 badges are blue.
- 84 minus 36 leaves 48. Half of 48 are green, leaving 24.
Why this works: B, 24. Check: 36 blue + 24 green + 24 other = 84.
Why the tempting route fails: D takes half of the original 84. The instruction says half of the remaining badges.
A suggested three-line review
- What did I miss? For example: I used the original total instead of the remainder.
- What will I do next time? Circle the word 'remaining' and write the new total.
- Can I explain it without the answer in front of me? Try that tomorrow before attempting another set.
Keep first-attempt results separate from repeated attempts. If your child remembers an answer, ask for the reasoning rather than treating recall as a fresh measure of readiness.
