Questions people ask

What score do you need to pass the Kent Test?

For the 2025 test, a total of at least 332 with every one of the three scores at least 108.

Why is a total of 340 not enough?

Because every score also has to be at least 108. A child with 107 in English still needs 1 more point there, however high the total.

What if my child was close?

Children just below the rule can still be found suitable through the headteacher assessment. Your child's school puts the case forward.

How we work this out

What it does

Enter the three Kent Test scores and see the fewest extra points that meet both parts of the rule.

The Kent Test sat in September 2025 for September 2026 entry: English, maths and reasoning standardised scores, each from 69 to 141.

Method

  1. Kent's 2025 rule needs a total of at least 332 with every score at least 108.
  2. Any score below 108 has to come up to 108 first. Anything still short of 332 can come from any score with room below 141.
  3. So the fewest extra points is the larger of the shortfall below 108 and the shortfall below 332.
