How we work this out
What it does
Enter your child's birthday to see their year now.
State school year groups in England, from GOV.UK's school starting age rule.
Method
- Reception starts in the September after the fourth birthday.
- So a birthday from 1 September to 31 August puts children in the same year group.
- Each September the year group goes up by one: Year 6 is six years after reception, Year 7 seven.
