What it covers

The published registration, test, second-stage and results dates for 14 English 11+ test routes and 89 grammar schools, for September 2027 entry and the September 2028 dates already published, plus the national council application and offer dates.

Method

  1. You choose your child's school year; we work out the September they start Year 7 (Year 6 now means September 2027) and the autumn they sit the tests.
  2. Each school leads to its test route. Dates shared by several schools on one route appear once, and a second stage meant only for some schools is shown only for those schools.
  3. Every school also goes on one council application: GOV.UK says to apply by 31 October, and offers come on 1 March or the next working day. A route that publishes another day is named beside it.
  4. Dates are sorted and marked passed, happening now or coming up against today's date in the UK. The next one not yet passed becomes the answer.

Uncertainty and limits

  • Where a source gives only early, mid or late in a month, we show exactly that and keep it out of the calendar file.
  • For an entry year a route has not published, we show last cycle's dates, labelled as last cycle's, so you know roughly when to look. They are never shifted forward a year.
  • Schools and councils change dates. Each row links to its official page and the day we read it; check it before a deadline.

What the answer means

The answer is the next date on your shortlist that has not passed, with every other date in order beneath it. It does not register your child, submit a form or apply for a place, and it cannot see dates a school has not yet published.

Questions people ask

When do you register for the 11+?

In the spring or summer of Year 5, and the window depends on the test. For September 2027 entry, Bexley's ran 1 to 31 March 2026, Kent's 1 June to 1 July 2026, and Tiffin School's Stage One registration until 2 September 2026.

When are 11+ results for 2027 entry?

In the autumn of Year 6. For September 2027 entry, Bucks results were due on 9 October 2026, Kent's on 15 October and Birmingham's on 16 October; some areas give only mid-October.

When is the deadline to apply for a grammar school place?

GOV.UK says you must apply for a secondary school place by 31 October, through the council where you live. Kent County Council gives 2 November 2026 for Kent residents in 2026.

Are 11+ dates for September 2028 entry out yet?

Only for a few areas. On 25 September 2026 Wirral had published 1 to 31 May 2027 for registration and the Slough Consortium had said May 2027; most areas publish in the spring.
