Questions people ask

How is the Bucks 11+ score worked out?

Verbal skills count 50%, maths 25% and non-verbal 25% of the standardised components. A weighted score of 121 qualifies.

Does a higher score than 121 help?

No. Buckinghamshire says a higher qualifying score does not give a higher priority for a place.

Why does verbal matter so much?

It counts double. One extra point in verbal adds half a point to the total; one in maths or non-verbal adds a quarter.

What it does

Enter two Bucks component scores and see what the third needs for a weighted 121.

The Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test: verbal, maths and non-verbal standardised components, each from 60 to 170.

Method

  1. Buckinghamshire weights verbal skills 50%, maths 25% and non-verbal 25%, and 121 qualifies.
  2. The tool solves 0.5 x verbal + 0.25 x maths + 0.25 x non-verbal = 121 for the part you choose.
  3. The answer is rounded up, never down, so it is always enough.
