Does passing the Bucks 11+ guarantee a grammar school place?

No. A score of 121 or more makes a child eligible. Each grammar school then offers places in the order of its own admission rules, and Buckinghamshire Council publishes how far each school got every year.

What was the last distance offered at Aylesbury Grammar School in 2026?

On National Offer Day 2026 Aylesbury Grammar offered every qualified applicant under its catchment and higher rules, and offers under rule 10 (Distance) went to 9.788 miles. The 1 April re-allocation made further offers to 10.0 miles.

Can a Pupil Premium child get a Bucks grammar place with 110 to 120?

At some schools, yes. In 2026 several schools had a rule for catchment Pupil Premium children scoring below 121, for example 115 to 120 at Aylesbury Grammar and the Royal Grammar School, 113 to 120 at John Hampden and Wycombe High, and 110 to 120 at Dr Challoner's and Sir William Borlase's.

Where do I find my distance to a Bucks grammar school?

Buckinghamshire Council's school finder gives the straight-line distance from an address to each school and says whether the address is in the school's catchment. The council notes these distances can differ slightly from the ones used in allocations.

  1. Buckinghamshire Council publishes one sentence per grammar school for each round: every admission rule under which all applicants were offered, and the rule and distance at which offers stopped.
  2. Your answers are matched to the first rule in the school's 2026 order that describes your child: for example Catchment & Pupil Premium, Siblings, Catchment, then Distance.
  3. If that rule was offered in full, everyone in your group was offered. If offers stopped inside your rule at a distance, your distance from the council's school finder is compared with it. A rule after the one where offers stopped was not reached.
  4. The later 2026 rounds use the same rule numbers, so your group is followed into them. 2025 is matched separately, because rule numbers change between years.

Uncertainty and limits

  • Rule numbers and wording are each school's own for that year, and a school can change its order for 2027.
  • The council's school finder says its distances are a guide and can differ slightly from those used in allocations.
  • Linked and former siblings and medical or social need are not asked here; if one applies, read the school's policy.
