How many boys reach Stage 2?

The top 450 from Stage 1. Every boy invited back has met the school's minimum standard; the final rank order comes after Stage 2.

Is there a catchment area?

No. There is no catchment, sibling policy or feeder school: places go on test performance alone.

No. Calculators, phones and watches are not allowed in either stage.

Paper	How it runs
Stage 1 (SET)	One hour, about 60 questions, five options each: English comprehension, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning, about 15 minutes each
Stage 2 English	One hour: multiple-choice reading and grammar, explaining a text such as a poem, and a piece of writing, marked in equal thirds
Stage 2 Mathematics	One hour, about 30 written-answer questions that get harder, no calculator
